Garbage, Recycling & Organics Collection

Black bin - garbage. Blue bin - recyclables. Brown bin - organics (food scraps, compostables).

Since January 2024, black and brown bins carry a chip read by the collection truck at each pickup, as part of an incentive-pricing program: 26 garbage collections and 42 organics collections are included per year, and residents who put their bins out less often can get a rebate. The blue (recycling) bin is not part of this chip system.

Garbage (black bin): Wednesdays, every two weeks, city-wide.

Recycling (blue bin): Fridays, every two weeks as of January 1, 2026 - a change driven by a Quebec government decision, not a municipal one.

Organics (brown bin): weekly from April 14 to November 10 inclusive; every two weeks on Tuesdays the rest of the year (per the municipal calendar - the City's general overview page instead states November 16, a one-week discrepancy between the two official sources).

These days are the same across the city, but use the City's address-lookup tool (or the Espace citoyen app) to confirm your exact calendar, especially around statutory holidays.

Bulky items - mattresses, box springs, furniture (upholstered or not), sinks, toilets, bathtubs, major appliances (stoves, washers, dryers, dishwashers), and electronics - are collected once a month on a Thursday, by sector (Sector A: 1st Thursday; B: 2nd; C: 3rd; D and E: 4th). You can place items curbside up to 5 days before your collection date, but they must be out by 7 a.m. on collection day.

No registration or reservation is mentioned on the City's page for this pickup - it appears to run automatically on the sector calendar, but confirm with the City if you're planning to put out a bulky item.

Christmas trees are collected January 5–16 (2026 dates) - this window changes annually, so check the current year's calendar.

Yard waste (leaves, etc.) is collected about five times a year, and branches up to seven times between spring and fall, on Mondays, by sector.

A special surplus recycling collection (cardboard and recyclable overflow, in transparent bags) happens January 3 and July 3 and 10, 2026, city-wide.

Construction debris, renovation waste, and other materials that don't belong curbside can be dropped off at the regional écocentre, run by the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges (not the City) and open to residents of all 23 MRC municipalities. Proof of residency is required on arrival.

Residents get 12 m³ free per year, then pay $25/m³ beyond that. Not accepted: industrial/commercial waste, soil, reusable items, medications, and hazardous materials outside the categories the site accepts.

Summer hours (April 1–November 30): Tuesday–Sunday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Fall/winter hours (December–March): Friday 8 a.m.–4 p.m., Saturday–Sunday 9 a.m.–4 p.m.

Exact vehicle/trailer size limits and the specific ID accepted as proof of residency aren't stated on the official page - confirm by phone before bringing a large load.

Leaving garbage or recycling bins on the public right-of-way outside the collection window can result in a fine (reported at $30 for a first offense).
