Vaudreuil-Dorion Municipal Library

There's no separate library card - your library card is the City's "carte de citoyen," free for Vaudreuil-Dorion residents and valid for 2 years. Sign up with a valid photo ID (driver's licence, health card, passport, or PR card) and proof of residency (a utility bill, bank statement, or tax bill from the last 3 months), either digitally through the Espace citoyen portal or in person at the library or the Service des loisirs et de la culture (3093 boulevard de la Gare, local B-230).

Non-residents can get library access for $150/year.

After more than 30 years at 51 rue Jeannotte, the library closed for good on May 4, 2025, and reopened at the new Pôle municipal (2000 rue Émile-Bouchard) on May 23, 2025, following a roughly $100,000 move of over 90,000 items. The new two-storey space has zones for different age groups, a significantly larger maker space ("Le Lab"), and six team work rooms - free to reserve online, up to 2 hours a day, for groups of up to 4 people aged 12 and over.

Cardholders can borrow e-books, audiobooks, and magazines through OverDrive (the Libby app) and Pretnumerique.ca, and search the full collection through the library's online catalogue.

All library programs are free, with registration online or by phone: story time, musical awakening for young children, kids' workshops, author talks and lectures, a summer reading club for ages 0-15, computer/tech workshops, and exhibitions.

The library also runs a "bibliothèque d'objets" (library of things) - lending out items like tools and equipment rather than just books - launched after residents voted for it in the City's 2022 participatory budget.

Since 1998, neighbouring Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac has paid an annual subscription so its residents can use the Vaudreuil-Dorion library. As of this research, the City is ending that arrangement in its current form on October 1, citing the new library's higher service level against the existing subscription fee - so if you live in Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac, confirm the current access terms directly with the library before assuming the old arrangement still applies.

There's no per-day late fee. An overdue item (2+ weeks late) instead carries the replacement cost plus a $5 administration fee. Black-and-white photocopies/printing cost $0.25/page, colour $0.75/page.
