History

This rural home on chemin des Chenaux, facing Lac des Deux Montagnes, was built around 1872. It was the childhood home of historian and priest Lionel Groulx (1878-1967), who referenced it repeatedly in his memoirs and in "Les Rapaillages." The City protected the site as a heritage site in 2005, and it was classified under Quebec's Cultural Heritage Act in 2012.

Why visit

It's a direct, tangible link to the childhood of one of Quebec's most significant - and most contested - 20th-century historians, in the same way Maison Félix-Leclerc preserves the adult home of another major Quebec cultural figure elsewhere in the city.
